Contribute To Our Restoration Efforts
The Friends of the Grand Army of the Republic Hall and Museum of Lynn, MA was formed to assist in saving our treasured G.A.R. building while our revivification efforts bring the Post – once the largest in the nation- into the 21st century.
The only freestanding one of its kind remaining in the country that is continuing to serve its intended purpose, many years of neglect have lead to the deterioration of our G.A.R. building. As a memorial museum that has remained virtually untouched since its construction in 1885, it is important to keep intact the integrity of the building as well as its contents when considering a restoration of any size. In order for this significant piece of our country’s history to live on, our fundraising efforts will support every aspect, from making the building ADA compliant and accessible to all, to cataloging, assessing and restoring its invaluable artifacts and preserving the Nationally Registered Historic building itself as it is a dedicated memorial to those who served in our Union forces.
This is certainly no small task, but our group of dedicated residents, community leaders, municipal partners and historians are up for the challenge! Won’t you join us in preserving this Civil War museum as a beacon of education for future generations and in honor of the men and women who fought for our freedom?
We sincerely thank you for your donation!
